War and peace

Years ago, when I worked as a financial journalist the world changed forever. Watching live images on CNN to launch updates for the agency I worked for it seemed to watch one of the usual action movie, except that it just was not a movie ... Or maybe it was but at the time I did not understand it that way!

My job was to cover Wall Street news and my agency was one of the first to break the news that the United States had been attacked in their territory, that the WTC was exploding, melting as a piece of butter on itself while men and women in despair threw themselves from the high floors of the building to escape a death in the flames. The Pentagon was pierced by what seemed like the hole caused by a missile, but the White House quickly told us that it was hit by a plane, although there were no signs of burnt grass on the lawn in front of the building, and no signs of any aircraft crashed on it. The world changed and I with it, losing faith in the fact that what I was doing was information ... it was DIS-information.

I realized this over time, at first I was just stunned and incredulous that the very newspaper I worked for (which by accident it was chaired by the new mayor of NY) did not want to publish the news that the giants of finance Goldman Sachs and Lehman Brothers showed - looking at the data - that someone KNEW what was going to happen weeks in advance of the event. They surprisingly had exchanged billions of dollars on the bet that the shares of the airlines companies involved in September 11 would have collapsed. But the newspapers did not have any interest in investigate about it, because you were told to write just that some rogue states in the Middle East wanted to destroy the Western world, and it was better to exchange freedom with security. All it was needed it was some minor surgical wars that would have taken place in Afghanistan, in Iraq, and maybe Syria. No worries guys, Americans would have been very little in Iraq, maybe no more than two weeks ... it had to be done since that Iraqi were holding weapons of mass destruction! I felt that it was not that way at all and that if until that moment I thought that the social system to which I belonged to had created the best of all possible worlds now I was struck by the fact that sensation we were the "bad guys". I felt also that if we stayed silent and in agreement like sheep without asking any questions we would have ended up supporting the game of those who got rich working on oil wells of others countries and creating new weapons that would have killed and poisoned even the soldiers who used them to massacre innocent and unsuspecting people. The world has changed and I with it, or at least the sign of a change seems to arrive.

Today I know that the war on terror only creates more fear and terror. Wars are not meant to be won, but only to keep the supremacy of those who earn from the war business and the maintenance of the dominant system. The wars are not made to fight for the keeping of peace or justice: the act of killing another human being or invade or destroy his house is not an act that can bring peace.

War is not an inevitable action, it is not the only alternative: in a global society every man is called to respond of the pain of others like him, mourning with his brother as if that grief, hunger and poverty were his own. Because the other is I. We are a Single Consciousness, that lives through all bodies, including those who seem to want to hurt you, or have a skin color that scares you, or that threaten to destroy your wealth and health. This is the realization that destroys the old paradigm of an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth and instead opens a different dimension, the only one that can really transform fear. It is the dimension of Love.

As long as we dont understand this we will be dominated by fear and terror and we will obey their laws to the point that it seems impossible to live in any other way than that to protect and defend or attack in order to have more otr keep what you have. The eyes of fear do not see that the pain that drives someone to do evil is the same that burns in your heart. The eyes of fear are unaware of the fact that the tears of a mother whose son died in a war are always the same, no matter which flag was sewn on his uniform. The eyes of fear they do not know that God is always by your side even when you call it Allah or Krishna. The eyes of fear point the finger against the shames of the world because they are too ashamed to show their own fragility and contradictions. The eyes of fear want to be right, they want to explain to you how things are and do not know to listen to the fact that their desire for truth is the same that animates the ones that seem not to agree with you.

The eyes of love are open to injustices seeing that they are only a reflection of their inability to live following what we know to be true of us, the inability to honor our heart. The eyes of love does not ask peace to makes a war, but they offer it at any time without imposing their ways. The eyes of love see no separations, do not recognize borders, do not ask what is your belief or currency or law to be able to love you.

Until we are ruled by fear and not follow the laws of love that are written in our hearts we will not thrive in joy. Joy is our birthright, and it is for every living being on this planet, every man or woman, every elder, every child, every animal or plant, or rock or crystal.

Open your heart and if you do not know how to live from love, then ask to be shown. It will happen instantly. You will feel the heart that breaks open, the pain that melts in tears. Ask to learn how to live from love, and your deepest Self will show you how. It is actually already doing it, since always.

With Love,
Shakti Caterina Maggi
